IIT Admissions

IITs need not require any introduction. IITs are the first choice of the students who are aspiring for Engineering.
The IITs use the joint entrance examination (JEE) to select students for their undergraduate programme. IIT jee is considered as one the toughest Entrance. For less than 5,000 seats, nearly three lakh students participate of the entrance exam.
The Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, and the institute of technology Banaras Hindu University follows IIT Jee for selecting students to Btech. However, women candidates are not given admission to Mining in Btech or Mining Mechanical Engineering.
The syllabus for the IIT JEE is primarily based on the CBSC syllabus. There will be two question papers, each of three hours duration. Both the question papers would consist of three separate sections on physics, chemistry and mathematics. Questions will be of objective type, incorrect answers will be awarded negative marks. Candidate can opt the language of question paper either in English or in Hindi. This option should be exercised while filling the application form and it cannot be changed at later stage. Aptitude tests for B Arch and Bdes programme will be conducted for those candidates who qualify in JEE and are desirous of joining these programmes.
Eligibility: Candidates who have passed (10+2) or equivalent qualifying examination at least 60% marks in aggregate (55% marks for SC/ST and persons with disability). IIT JEE is a competition amongst the toppers. So it is advisable to start preparation from 9th class itself.
