Career in Fine Arts

Many colleges offer regular degree programmes like Bachelor of Fine arts (BFA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA). A student can opt from a wide range of specializations such as furniture, sculpture, art, applied art, textile graphic, ceramic, exhibition and product design, plastic arts and video programming . some institutes offer diploma courses in fine arts.
Duration: BFA: 4-5 years. Diploma course:2-3 years Masters course (after completing BFA): 2 years.

Eligibility
BFA Course:10+2
Masters Course:BFA
Diploma Courses:10th standard/equivalent.
Besides this academic qualification, the individual should have a creative bent of mind and an eye for detail.

Admission
To enroll for courses in Fine arts, an entrance examination is conducted to test the candidates aesthetic skills. The test generally consist of (1) study from life –face of a human model to the drawn in pencil and (2) a water color painting on a specified theme.

Job Prospects
For people with talent and creative acumen, a career in fine arts is a good drew. But it takes time , diligence patience and a lot of good luck for an artist to establish himself independently. A better alternative would be to join a commercial organization and work ones way up from there. Some of the avenues of employment are advertisement Agencies, packaging industry, creative cell of textile, furniture, leather and ceramic companies, newspapers and journals , hotel and tourism industry, film-making, video production , animation films , titling of movies interior decoration consultancies etc. There is no dearth of opportunity for the talented person.
Future Prospects:
The growth of technology has revolutionized the possibilities and opportunities in this field. Computer Aided Designing and Computer Graphics have helped greatly in extending the limits of human endeavour. The proactive aspirant who keeps abreast of the latest trends will be better off in the modern context.
