University of Berlin, Graduate School of North American studies offering scholarship for doctoral studies. Admitted doctoral candidates are expected to obtain at least 180 credits of research training during the 3-year program. Eleven admitted doctoral students per year by the graduate school nominated on a competitive basis during the admissions review process. Scholarships will be awarded for a maximum of three years. Continued funding past the first award year is based upon good progress towards completion of the doctoral degree. Scholarships amount to 1500 Euros per month.
Eligibility: MA degree (eg German diploma or magister) in either North American studies or one of the disciplines represented at the John F Kennedy Institute (cultural studies, literature, political science, history, sociology, and economics). The discipline of the dissertation must correspond to the discipline of the MA-degree, or at least be closely related to it.
