German Scholarship for Doctoral Studies

University of Berlin, Graduate School of North American studies offering scholarship for doctoral studies. Admitted doctoral candidates are expected to obtain at least 180 credits of research training during the 3-year program. Eleven admitted doctoral students per year by the graduate school nominated on a competitive basis during the admissions review process. Scholarships will be awarded for a maximum of three years. Continued funding past the first award year is based upon good progress towards completion of the doctoral degree. Scholarships amount to 1500 Euros per month.
Eligibility:  MA degree (eg German diploma or magister) in either North American studies or one of the disciplines represented at the John F Kennedy Institute (cultural studies, literature, political science, history, sociology, and economics). The discipline of the dissertation must correspond to the discipline of the MA-degree, or at least be closely related to it. Further information is available at the graduate school of North American Studies. Enrollment requires English language proficiency at an advanced level.
