KVPY Scholarship for Undergraduate

 KISHORE VAIGYANIK PROTSAHAN YOJANA (KVPY)
 Started by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, this on-going programme is aimed at recognizing and encouraging creative and innovative talent of youngsters making their career in Basic Sciences, Engineering or Medicine. To ensure that the best scientific talent is tapped for research and development in the country.
 VALUE OF FELLOWSHIPS: (Rs 2000 to Rs 5000) pm along with the contingency grant to deserving students. Continuation of fellowship: Annual renewal of grant to deserving students. Continuation of fellowship: Annual renewal of fellowships will depend on maintaining good academic performance in the chosen stream ad satisfactory performance in summer programmes.Selected students are provided generous scholarships up to the pre-PhD level.
OTHER PRIVILEGES: 1. An Identity Card is issued to each KVPY Fellows. Several national Laboratories, universities and other institutions have agreed to extend special privileges like library will automatically be eligible for direct admission to the five-year Integrated M.S. Students who represent India in the International Olympiads Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Mathematics/Informatics and Astronomy in 2007 will automatically qualify for KVPY Fellowship provided they complex X Standard Board Examination by 2007 and continue studying in science subjects.
 Eligibility: These Fellowships are on for Indian Nationals studying in India.
BASIC SCIENCES:
Stream SA: Students enrolled in XI Standard (Science Subjects) in the current year and having secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Science and Mathematics subjects in X standard Board Examination.
STREAM SB(1) Students enrolled in 1st year B.Sc.Degree/Integrated M.Sc.Degree (UG programme in Basic Sciences) and having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for Sc/ST) marks in aggregate in Science and Mathematics in XII Standard Board Examination.(2) Students of class 12(+2) of the academic year 2007-2008 who are aspiring to join II SER for integrated M.S programme for the session August 2008 may also take the Aptitude Test for the SB Stream provided they secure minimum of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) aggregate Mathematics and Science in X Standard Board Examination .
 Stream SP:Students pursing XI,XII Standard ,First or Second year of any UG programme in Basic  Sciences and having secured a minimum of 60% ( 50% for SC/ST) marks aggregate in X Standard and XII Standard Board Examination may apply by completing a science based research project., to be submitted along with the application.
Engineering: Stream EA: Students enrolled in 1st year B.E./BTech/BArch and having minimum of 60% (50 for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Science and Mathematics subjects in XIIth Std.Board exam. Stream EB: Students enrolled in 2nd year BE/BTech/BArch. And having minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST) in the 1st year exam. Of BE/B Tech/BArch.A copy of the research project is required to accompany the application.
Medicine: Stream MA: Students enrolled I 2nd year MBBS during academic year and must have passed 12th Std.Board exam. With 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks aggregate in Science subjects. A copy of the Bio-medical Research Project is required to accompany the application.
Selection Criteria: The selection process is different for Science, Engineering and Medicine. Selection to the programme is competitive and takes into account academic excellence and submission of research based project and scrutiny of application forms. Short listed candidates are then called for the interview for final selection. Interview Date: December. Venue: Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
