Applications have been invited at School of Distance Education, University of Calicut for admission to Post Graduate and PG Diploma in Foreign Trade (Regular stream) for the Academic Year 2012-13.

Courses offered and individual eligibility:

1. M.Com
Eligibility Criteria under Mark Scheme: At least 45% marks in the qualifying examination.  OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.
Eligibility Criteria under Grade Scheme: Option 1
Eligible UG Programmes: B.Com/BBA/BBS/BBM

2. M.A. Economics:

Eligibility Criteria under Mark Scheme: At least 45% marks in the Part III (excluding
subsidiaries) of qualifying examination. OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.
Eligibility Criteria under Grade Scheme: Option 1
Eligible UG Programmes: UG in Economics

3. M.A. History:
Eligibility Criteria under Mark Scheme: At least 50% marks in the qualifying
examination. OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.

Eligibilitiy Criteria under Grade Scheme: Option 1
Eligible UG Programmes: B.A. History/ Double main with History as one of the main.

4. M.A. Philosophy

Eligibility Criteria under Mark Scheme: At least 45% marks in Part III subjects
excluding subsidiaries. OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%.
SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.

Eligibility Criteria under Grade Scheme: Option 1

5. M.A Political Science

Eligibility Criteria under Mark Scheme: At least 45% marks in the Part III (excluding
subsidiaries) of qualifying examination. For OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.

Eligibility Criteria under Grade Scheme: Option 1

6. M.A. Sociology

Eligibility Criteria under Mark Scheme: At least 45% marks in Part III (excluding
subsidiaries) of the qualifying examination. OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to
relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.

Eligibility Criteria under Grade Scheme: Option 2
Eligible UG Programmes: All UG

7. M.A. Arabic

Eligibility Criteria under Mark Scheme: At least 45% marks in Part II with Arabic or 45% in Arabic under Part III in (Pattern 1 or Pattern 2) of the qualifying examination.  OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.
Eligibility Criteria under Grade Scheme: Option 1

8. M.A. English Language and Literature

Eligibility Criteria under Mark Scheme: At least 45% in Part I English of B.A/B.Sc
Examinations, or 45% English Main Papers in the case of candidates with English under Part III pattern I (or Part III pattern II). OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.

9. M.A. Hindi (Language and Literature)

Eligibility Criteria under Mark Scheme: At least 45% marks in Part II with Hindi or 45 % in Hindi under Part III in (Pattern 1 or Pattern 2) of the qualifying examination. OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.

10. M.A. Malayalam

Eligibility Criteria under Mark Scheme: At least 45% marks in Part II with Arabic or 45 % in Malayalam under Part III in (Pattern 1 or Pattern 2) of the qualifying examination. OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.

11. M.A. Sanskrit

Eligibility Criteria under Mark Scheme: At least 45% marks in Part II with Sanskrit or
45 % in Sanskrit under Part III in (Pattern 1 or Pattern 2) of the qualifying examination. OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.

Eligibility Criteria under Grade Scheme: Option 1

* In Mark system, for Sanskrit Main, M3 is Part III, and for others M3 is Part II. In Grade system, for Sanskrit Main, CG2 is Core, and for others
CG2 is Complementary (Sanskrit).

12. M.A. Tamil

Eligibility Criteria under Mark Scheme: At least 45% marks in Part II with Tamil or 45
% in Tamil under Part III in (Pattern 1 or Pattern 2) of the qualifying examination.
OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.

Eligibility Criteria under Grade Scheme: Option 2

13. MSc Mathematics

Eligibility under Mark scheme: At least 50% in Part III excluding subsidiaries of
qualifying examination. OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%.
SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.

Eligibility under Grade scheme: Option 2
Eligible UG Programmes B.Sc Mathematics

PG Diploma in Foreign Trade (1 year)

Pass in Humanities/Maths/Statistics/Commerce/BBA Degree or pass in Travel and Tourism with 50% marks.

General eligibility criteria

1. Students under mark system: Eligibility of each PG Programme is specified based on the eligible UG programmes and the % marks obtained in different Parts (eg: part 1, part II, part III etc.). Relaxation in the requirement of minimum marks upto 5% for OBC/OEC is applicable. SC/ST candidates need get only a pass in their qualifying examination for admission to the Post Graduate Programmes. Eligibility criteria are given along with the description of each course.

2. Students under grade system (CCSS): For each PG programme there will be a set of eligible UG programmes. Either of the below given options (Option1 or Option 2) will be the general criteria for fixing the eligibility for each programme. Option 1 is based on the overall CGPA and Option 2 is based on the CGPA in each core and complementary courses. The following system is provided for a CGPA with 0-4 point scale. For other scales, the eligibility will be determined by keeping the same proportion.

Option 1:

For General candidates, overall CGPA not less than 2.0
For OBC/BPL candidates, minimum eligibility will be 1.8 in the overall CGPA.
For OEC candidates as per rules.  For SC/ST students, the minimum eligibility will be 1.5 in the Overall CGPA.

Option 2

For General candidates, minimum 2.0 CGPA in each Core & Complementary courses.
For OBC/BPL candidates, minimum eligibility will be 1.8 in each Core & Complementary courses.
For OEC candidates as per rules.
For SC/ST candidates, minimum eligibility will be 1.5 in each Core & Complementary courses.

Mark relaxation to teachers and government employees:

(M.A/M.Com only)

Teachers with not less than 3 years experience in aided school or college are eligible for exemption from the requirement of minimum marks, on production of an experience certificate countersigned by AEO/DEO along with the admission application. All Government/ University employees are also exempted from the requirement of minimum marks for admission, on production of sufficient proof.

1. Application fee - Rs.200/-( Rs.100/- in the case of Diploma in Foreign Trade)
2. Admission fee - Rs.250/-(Rs.1000/- as registration fee for Diploma in Foreign Trade).
3. Course fee for one year :
a) M.Com, MA (Arabic, Malayalam, History) - Rs.2500
b) MA (Eng., Hindi, Eco., Pol., Sociology, M.Sc (Maths) - Rs.2000
c) MA (Philosophy, Tamil, Sanskrit) - Rs.525 ( Rs.500 for II year)
d) PG Diploma in Foreign Trade (The candidate should remit only the application fee at the time of applying. Other fees to be remitted only at the time of admission) - Rs.3000

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OEC are eligible for concession from payment of tuition fees, only if they are not employed in Govt./Quasi Govt./Public Sector services. They should apply for fee concession with relevant document in the prescribed application which will be supplied to them later.  No fee concession for OBC students. Blind candidates are also eligible for fee concession on production of medical certificate.

Remit the required application fee/admission fee/course fees /matriculation fee (if applicable)/recognition fee (if applicable) and re-matriculation fee (if applicable) through chalan.  Application is to be submitted online at www.universityofcalicut.info Take the printout of the application and attest the photo in the printout copy with a Gazetted Officer and forward to the Director, School of Distance Education, University of Calicut, Calicut University PO, Pin 673635 with following documents.

i. Original challan receipt for the required fee.
ii. Original Transfer Certificate.
iii. Original and copies of qualifying certificates and mark lists.
iv. Community/Income/Nativity Certificate (whichever is applicable) in the case of
SC/ST/OBC/OEC/BPL candidates
v. Certificate from the authority for relaxation in minimum marks in case of teachers, Govt. employees, University employees etc.
vi. Attested copy of the relevant page of SSLC or equivalent exam as proof of Date of Birth.
vii. Self addressed stamped envelope ( 32/-) of size (30x25 cms.) to return the original certificates if not availing the facility of spot admission.
viii. Spot Admission fee : Rs. 50/-
