 About the project: The project should be based on novel and innovative idea (original ideas and creativity) and must that the applicant is adventurous, and ready to explore. It can be experimental or theoretical in nuture.One may try to incorporate some addition to the design or practical implementation that improves an existing technique. The main criteria that would be followed for selection for the interview would be originality and innovation. Only after these criteria are met, the level of sophistication and the nature of the project would be taken into consideration
How to apply (1) each stream has its own application from. Students who wish to apply more than one stream will have to submit separate applications. (2) Applications may apply either Hard Copy or by downloading application forms from the website.(3) Hard Copy of the application from can be obtained from KVPY on request by sending a processing fee of Rs 100/-(Rs 25/- for SC/ST) by means of DD/-IPO drawn in favour of SID a/c KVPY Bangalore, clearly indicating the stream (SA, SB, SP,EA,EB,MA) on the request.(4) The Sc/ST should provide a copy of the caste certification in the systematized Performa.(5) Application without the project report is not considered .By post:1st September 2007 In person IISc: 13 September 2007.Last Date for receipt of the completed application September.  Eligibility: Those who have secured at least 80% marks in Sciences and Mathematics and at least 75% in aggregate in Class XII Board Examination are eligible to apply. The final selection amongst the short listed candidates may involve an interview.
    Undergraduate Associates (about 10 in number each year) are to be entitled to short supplementary courses, Laboratory demonstrations and /or mini-projects at SINP lasting about a week at a time for a total of about 60-90 days over the undergraduate period. Appropriate topics are chosen by the students and the guides appointed for them. During this period, they receive stipend @ Rs. 150/-day along with a book grant of Rs.6000/- per annum.Travel allowance is also given to outstation students.  A certificate is issued on completion of this programme.
    After evaluation at the end of this programme, a few of the Undergraduate Associates would be selected as Graduate Associates of SNIP, and awarded scholarships if they pursue M.Sc. Courses in Physics. During vacation in this period, they work on projects lasting about a month each year at SINP. On successful completion of the M.Sc. INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE, Bangalore 560012 (Ph: 080-22932001-05, Fax: 080-2300683/0085) offers IISc Young Fellowship for toppers in PUC/ 12th Std.Eligibility: If you are a topper in PUC/12 Standard with Mathematics as one of the subjects of study (within top 20 ranks of the PU Board/University examination or equivalent), you have an excellent opportunity to become an “IISc Young Science Fellow”. In cases, where ranks are not declared by the Boards like CBSE/ICSE, he/she must have obtained a high level of distinction of the Board or be within the top 1% of the students taking the examination. In the absence of this data, suitable criterion will be evolved by IISc. To become eligible, you have to pursue a career in science, ciz. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology in any College/University of your choice in India. If selected you are invited to spend one month during May-June every year at the Indian Institute of Science where you are exposed to contemporary scientific research. You are paid travel and stay expenses. IISc contributes partially towards payment of your tuition fees and Rs.1500/per annum towards purchase of books.
