Sports Scholarships

For Upcoming junior players for the financial year 2008-2009.
The objective of this scheme is to award Airports Authority of India (AAI) Sports Scholarships to promising young players with a view to enhancing sporting standards in AAI as also encouraging young talent. There would be 60 scholarships in football, cricket, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis.The amount of the scholarship would be Rs 2,500 per month for candidates over 14 years and under 18 years of age and Rs 3,000 per month for candidates over 18 years of age and under 22 years of age.The scholarship will be given for one year extendable to three years based on the individual’s performance/ improvement. The recipient will cease to get the scholarship once he/ she turns 22. He/ she will continue his/ her studies as well as the game concerned and show improved performance in both. He/ she will submit the certificates duly attested by the head/ principal that he/ she is a bonafide student or the concerned recognised State/ National Sports Federation.
Who can apply?
Players in the age group of over 14 years (as on April 1, 2008) and under 18 years (as on March 31, 2009) and over 18 years (as on April 1, 2008) and under 22 years (as on March 31, 2009). For football/ cricket football, players (boys) who have consistently played in the last two / three years and performed outstandingly in National School Games, All India Inter University Tournaments, Junior/ Senior National Championship. For badminton and table tennis, players who have consistently played in the last two / three years and secured 1st/ 2nd/ 3rd place in National School Games, All India Inter University Tournament, Junior/ Senior National Championship

The duly completed and signed application together with requisite enclosures should be sent to Shri Raju Dureha, Joint General Manager(Pers) & Secretary, AAI Sports Control Board, Airports Authority of India, Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, New Delhi - 110 003
Application will be routed through and recommended by appropriate authority/ institution (such as Head/ Principal of Institution/ School, Secretary of the State Federation/ National Federation of the concerned sport) along with certified copies of standing of the sports scholar.
