For admission to: Postgraduate courses (master’s and doctoral) in the country with MHRD and some other government scholarship/ assistantship in engineering, technology, architecture, pharmacy, science. Eligibility: Bachelor degree holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/Pharmacy (four years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or prefinal year of such programmes/ master’s degree holders in any branch of science/ mathematics/ statistics/ computer applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or prefinal year of such programmes. Candidates in the second or higher year of the four-year integrated master’s degree programme (Post-BSc) in engineering/ technology or in the third or higher year of five-year integrated master degree programme and dual degree programme in engineering/ technology. Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/ AICTE (eg AMIE) as equivalent to BE/ BTech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible. The question papers will be in English only. The choice of the paper is the responsibility of the candidate. Information about the pattern of the questions is given under question paper pattern in the brochure on the websites given below. GATE is a single paper of three hours duration; each paper is of 150 marks only. The question paper will consist of only objective type questions. There will be negative marking for wrong answers. The deduction for each wrong answer will be 25 per cent of the allotted marks. Form: Online or offline. Application fee is Rs 900 for online and Rs 1000 for offline for general category.
