Written exam at Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Guwahati and Nagpur. For admission to: Trainee Navigating Officer Cadets (TNOCs) at Shipping Corporation of India under the Indira Gandhi National Open University-Directorate General of Shipping (IGNOU-DGS) Project leading to BSc Nautical Science. Eligibility: (a) Pass in 10+2 from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) with not less than 60 per cent in PCM (age not more than 20 years ) or (b) With physics as an individual subject in one of the years of BSc in Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Electronics with an average of not less than 55 per cent in the final year from a UGC/ DEC recognised Institute (age not more than 22 years) or (c) BE / BTech degree from IIT or from a college recognised by AICTE/ UGC/ DEC (age not more than 24 years) and should have passed with not less than 50 per cent in English language as a subject, at either class 10 or 12 or in the degree course, conducted by a recognised board or university. The age limit (as on January 1, 2008) is relaxable by two years in the case of female candidates.In addition, as per govt directives, SC/ ST candidates shall be given age relaxation of five years. Eyesight should be 6/6 in each eye without visual aids. Normal colour vision. No age relaxation is available at this point for OBC candidates is permissible as by DGS guidelines. The written test would be in science subjects (physics, chemistry, mathematics), English language and reasoning ability-cum-aptitude. Question papers will be bilingual (English and Hindi). Candidates, successful in written test, will be called for interview, medical test and final selection.
