Career in Software testing

Software testing promises great opportunities for people who are interested in building a career with a difference in the IT arena. It has also been noticed that a test engineer reaches the test manager level in five years as compared to eight years taken by a software developer. The demand for software testers in India is likely to increase as Indian software testing companies offer testing services at lower costs when compared to other parts of the globe.
Professional training is a must to enter the software-testing field. Training in the concepts of testing on different hardware configurations, processes, using testing tools, working with test management, etc. is required before working on a live project. To be successful in this career, one should have the ability to identify the problem and analyse the reason for defects is also a must. A knowledge of testing methodology, testing tools such as WinRunner, Web Load, Silk Test, etc. is also essential.
