Forensic science covers a wide range of scientific disciplines and is one of the higherstudy options for science graduates, which leads to a career as a forensic scientist. To become a forensic scientist, one has to obtain a Master’s degree in forensic science. Few universities in India offer this course. Some of the universities also conduct courses in forensic science and criminology, criminology and criminal justice, etc at the postgraduate level.
Those who complete MSc/ MA programmes in Forensic Science and Criminology or obtain a PhD in the relevant field can find jobs with law enforcement agencies, police departments and other investigative services of the Government. Forensic scientists can get jobs in Intelligence Bureau (IB) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and forensic laboratories.
