The Mumbai-based Insurance Institute of India (III), Universal Insurance Building, 6th Floor, Sir P.M. Road, Fort, Mumbai 400 001 imparts insurance education to persons engaged or interested in insurance and conducts examination at various levels and arranges for both postal and contact coaching. The institute conducts examinations for the award of insurance certificates/diploma such as inspector’s examination (General Insurance), certificate in insurance salesmanship (agents), Licentiate, associateship and fellowship. The contact classes are organized by local associated institutes for preparing students for the examination. The following are the different kinds of courses available to the candidates:
Diploma course:
This is a three tier course consisting of the Licentiate, Associateship and Fellowship examination. The candidate has the option of choosing either Life or Non-Life branch at the Licentiate level and for the Associateship candidate can choose either fire, Marine, Miscellaneous or General branch provided he has passed Licentiate in Non-Life branch.
Certificate in Insurance Salesmanship:
This is a course designed for the field staff (Agents/D.O.) of any Insurance company. It consists of two subjects and the candidate has the option to opt for either the Life or Non-Life branch. The Institute conducts Licentiate, Associateship, Fellowship and CIS examination twice a year. (i.e.April/May and October/November).
