Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship Scheme for SC/ ST students

The year 2008-2009 for SC/ ST students to undertake advanced studies and research in sciences, engineering and technology, humanities and social sciences in Indian universities and colleges. There are 1,333 slots for the scheduled castes and 667 slots for scheduled tribes every year for all subjects. 50 per cent of the fellowships would be awarded to female candidates. Financial assistance will be provided to students to pursue studies leading to MPhil and PhD degree (full time) in science, engineering and technology, humanities and social sciences by the University Grants Commission. The tenure of the fellowship is initially for two years.
