Andhra University is a pioneering institution to offer educational programmes under
distance education mode in the state of Andhra Pradesh and second in South India. The School of Distance education is a dual mode institution of Andhra university offering different distance education programmes since 1972. BE/B.Tech Courses were introduced under distance mode from the year 2005-2006 onwards in the school of distance education, Andhra university in following discipline:
B.Tech(Chemical Engineering)
B.E (Civil Engineering)
B.E (Mechanical Engineering)
B.E (Electrical & Electronics Engineering)
B.E (Electronic & Communication Engineering)
Eligibility criteria for admission into the above course is Diploma in the respective branch of state board of technical education and training. These courses are run withe course curriculum approved by the statutory bodies of the University. Moreover, these are run under the supervision of the principal, Chairmen of the respective Boards of studies and concerned heads of the departments of the college of engineering of Andhara University. BE/B.Tech students of Andhra University Distance education mode are eligible to seek admission to ME/M.Tech course
of Andhra university in their respective branches as in the case of students under regular stream. BE/B.Tech programs offered by Andhra University distance education are approved by the distance education council, based on the recommendation of joint committee consisting of members from the AICTE, UGC and DEC.
state/central run universities being the autonomous bodies in the area of higher learning, need not take prior approval from the AICTE to run BE/B.Tech programs, if these programmes are approved by the statutory bodies of the respective university
