Institute of Mathematics & Applications, Andharua, Bhubaneswar-751003, under Government of Orissa and affiliated to Utkal University, has invited applications for admission to the B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics and Computing Programme and M.A/M.Sc in Computational Finance for the academic year 2011-12.
Selection will be made on the basis of an Entrance test of one/two hours duration to be held on May 18, 2011 (Wednesday), at Balangir (Code: BLG), Bangalore (BAN), Baripada (BPD), Berhampur (BAM), Bhawanipatna (BWT), Bhubaneswar (BBS), Chandigarh (CDG), Chennai (CHN), Delhi (DLH), Guwahati (GHT), Hyderabad (HYD), Imphal (IPL), Kanpur (KNR), Kolkata (KOL), Koraput (KPT), Kozhikode (KZK), Mumbai (MUB), Parlakhemundi (PMD), Ranchi (RNC), Rayagada (RGD), Sagar (MP) (SGR), Sambalpur (SBP), Silchar (SHR), Srinagar (SNR), Sundargarh (SDH), Trichy (TCY) and Visakhapatanam (VPM), followed by an interview.

The 3-year full time B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics and Computing is aimed at those who wish to pursue a career in cutting-edge research in Mathematical Sciences and related fields. Besides a research career in Mathematics, there are varieties of other career options for the pass outs both in academics as well as in corporate houses. A scholarship of Rs 2500/- per month would be available to some meritorious students. Applicant must have passed/appeared Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent from any stream with Mathematics as a subject.
A maximum of 30 students will be admitted to the programme. The Course fee is Rs.10,000/- per year. The two year full-time M.A/M.Sc in Computational Finance, the first of its kind in India is aimed at providing students with the practical skills and theoretical understanding and evaluations of the tools and models used by the ever changing and increasingly complex financial service sectors.
Applicant must have passed/appeared for the Bachelor’s Degree with Mathematics/ Statistics as a core subject. A maximum of 30 students will be admitted to the programme. The Course fee is Rs.60,000/- per year.
Those appearing for the qualifying examination can also apply and appear in the entrance test subject to submission of the results of the qualifying examination at the time of admission, if selected.
Application fee for B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics and Computing is Rs 100/- (there is no application fee for ST/SC students). Application fee for M.A/M.Sc in Computational Finance is Rs 350/-.
