Eligibility for Kerala University MA and M.Com Courses:
a. English: BA English as optional main subject securing not less than 45% in Part III including subsidiaries or Graduation in any subject in the Faculties of Arts, Social Science, Science, Oriental studies and Fine Arts securing not less than 50% marks in Part I (Three papers under compulsory English)/ BA Communicative English (vocational)/BA English Language and Literature and BA Communicative English (Restructured).
b. Philosophy: Graduation in any subject irrespective of Faculty securing not less than 45% marks in Part III optional subjects. Preference for BA Philosophy graduates.
c. History: Graduation in any subject in the Faculty of Social Science or graduation in the faculty of Arts with English language and Literature as the main subject securing not less than 45% in Part III optional subjects.
d. Sociology: Graduate in any subject in the Faculties of Arts / Social Science / Science / Commerce / Law securing not less than 45% marks in Part III optional subjects. Candidates with BCA Degree of the University of Kerala or any other University which is equivalent there to, BSc Computer Science and BBA are also eligible. B.Com. Degree holders are also eligible
e. Economics: Graduation in Economics, Mathematics or Statistics with not less than 45% marks in part III optional subjects.
f. Business Economics: Graduation in Economics, Mathematics or Statistics with not less than 45% marks in part III optional subjects.
g. Political Science: Graduates in Politics, Economics, History, Philosophy, Psychology, BA Communicative English with Public Administration, English, Sociology, Anthropology, Law, Journalism, Commerce, Business Administration, Public Administration, Geography or other Social Science subjects with not less than 45% marks in Part III- optional Main subject concerned (including subsidiaries). Graduates in Science and Engineering with 60% marks / BA Journalism and Mass Communication and Video Production (Restructured) / BA Communicative English (Vocational) with Public Administration as one of the main subjects are also eligible. But the proportion of Engineering and Science graduates admitted should not exceed 10% of the total seats.
h. Psychology: BA / BSc / Graduation in Psychology with not less than 45% marks in Part III optional subjects. Graduates who have studied at least one Psychology paper at the UG Level. Graduates of Science subjects who have studied at least one paper of Physiology / Animal behavior / child development.
i. Hindi: BA with Hindi Language as optional Main subject under Part III securing not less than 45% marks for that Part or BA / BSc with Hindi as additional language under Part II securing not less than 50% marks for that part / BA Functional Hindi (Vocational ).
j. Malayalam: BA with Malayalam Language as optional Main subject under Part III securing not less than 45% marks for that Part or BA / BSc with Malayalam as additional language under Part II securing not less than 50% marks for that part / BA Malayalam and Mass Communication ( Restructured ).
k. Arabic: BA with Arabic as optional Main or subsidiary subject under Part III securing not less than 45% marks for that Part or BA / BSc with Arabic as additional language under Part II securing not less than 50% marks for that part or BA / BSc with a pass in Afzal-ul-ulama (Oriental Title) examination of Kerala or Calicut University or Arabic Munshi examination (Lower or Higher) of the Erstwhile Travancore-Cochin Government.
l. Islamic History: BA in Islamic History Main with not less than 45% marks. Graduates in Social Science and Arabic are also eligible provided there are vacancies over and above the number of applicants with BA Islamic History
m. Sanskrit (Nyaya): 1st Preference will be given to candidates with BA with Sanskrit Language as optional Main subject under Part III securing not less than 45% marks for that Part. 2nd preference will be given to BA / BSc with Sanskrit as second language under Part II securing not less than 50% marks for that part. s. Music: BA with Music as optional main subject under Part III securing not less than 45% marks for that part / BPA degree holders (Vocal) Music.
t. Public Administration: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science, Social Science or bachelors Degree (irrespective of Faculty) recognized by the University of Kerala / BA Communicative English (Vocational).
MCom Courses:
MCom: BCom with not less than 45% marks in part III optional subjects / BCom. Tourism and Travel Management (Vocational and Restructured) / BCom Tax procedure and Practices (Vocational and Restructured) / BCom Actuarial Science (Vocational) / BCom Office Management & Secretarial Practice / BCom Hotel Management and Catering (Restructured). (Optional Subjects – Finance, Marketing and E-Commerce as offered by the Colleges)
