PhD admission Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune

Applications have been invited for the PhD programs of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune scheduled to commence from August 2012 in the following areas of basic sciences:

1. Biological / Ecological Sciences
2. Chemical Sciences
3. Mathematical Sciences
4. Physical Sciences

Eligibility:
1. Biological Sciences:
First Class or 60% marks (55% for SC / ST) in MSc in any branch of Science - Biological Sciences / Ecology & Environmental Sciences / Biodiversity / Biochemical / Biophysical / Biomathematical or equivalent including Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. BTech / MTech / MBBS degree holders may also apply.

The candidate MUST qualify National Eligibility Test (NET) with CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF or DBT-JRF-A or ICMR-JRF or INSPIRE-PhD (with rank 1 to 500) OR have a valid GATE (rank <300) to apply. 2. Chemical Sciences: First Class or 60% marks (55% for SC / ST) in MSc or equivalent degree in Chemistry / Physics / Biochemistry / Material Science / Bioinformatics / Pharmacy. The candidate should have qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) with CSIR-JRF / UGC-JRF OR INSPIRE-PhD OR GATE (with rank 500 and below) to apply. 3. Mathematical Sciences: First Class or 60% marks (55% for SC / ST) in MSc / MStat / MTech / MA in any field, or in BSc / BStat / BTech / BA in any field. The candidates must have appeared for the NBHM PhD screening test for the year 2012. Candidates with undergraduate degree will be admitted to the Integrated PhD program. Shortlisted candidates from the NBHM exam will be contacted directly. 4. Physical Sciences: First Class or 60% marks (55% for SC / ST) in: (i) MSc or equivalent degree in Physics / Material Science OR (ii) BE / BTech / MTech The candidate should have qualified at least one of the following tests/fellowship in Physics valid for the current academic year: (i) CSIR-JRF / UGC-JRF (ii) JEST / GATE with ranks less than or equal to 500 (iii) INSPIRE-PhD fellowship. Application: Application form has to be filled ONLINE before April 30, 2012. Candidates intending to apply to more than one program / Department should apply separately application forms for each program / Department. Fill the online application form completely and attested copies of all supporting documents (mark sheets, certificates, age proof, caste certificate, etc.) are to be brought in at the time of the interview. Candidates have to carry one photograph. In addition, applicants for Biological / Ecological Sciences should bring along one recommendation letter at the time of interview. The last date for receipt of completed applications online is April 30, 2012.
