Higher study in Horticultural at Dr YSR Horticutural University


Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University has invited applications for admission into M.Sc.(Horticulture) with specialization in 1) Fruit Science, 2) Vegetable Science, 3) Floriculture & Landscape Architecture 4) Plantation, Spices, Medicinal and Aromatic Crops, 5) Post Harvest Technology, 6) Horticultural Plant Pathology and 7) Horticultural Entomology courses from candidates possessing B.Sc.(Hort.)/ B.Sc.(Hons.) Horticulture and for Ph.D(Hort.) from candidates with M.Sc.(Hort.) degree. 


Eligibility:  Candidates seeking admission into Master’s Degree course in Horticulture must have passed the relevant Bachelor’s Degree i.e, B.Sc. (Hons.) Hortilculture with a OGPA of 5.5/10 and for Ph.D a minimum of 6.50/10.00 OGPA in M.Sc.(Horticulture) from ICAR Accreditated University. (b) Age: The upper age limit is 40 years as on 1st July, 2016.

Criteria for Selection 


M.Sc.(Horticulture): The selection shall be based on the weightage for previous academic record (B.Sc.-30%, Intermediate– (10+2) – 10% and S.S.C – 10%) and performance in Entrance test (50%). General and OBC candidates with 50% or more than 50% marks in entrance test are eligible for interview/counseling which is relaxable in case of SC/ST candidates to the extent of seats reserved for them. The entrance test will be objective type for 200 marks, covering all relevant subjects prescribed for the concerned Bachelor degree requirements of this University.

Ph.D(Horticulture): The Selection shall be based on the previous academic record (M.Sc.(Hort.) – 30%, B.Sc(Hort.) – 10%, and performance in Entrance Test (50%) and 10% for interview. Candidates with 50% or more than 50% marks in entrance test are eligible for interview/counseling which is relaxable in case of SC/ST candidates to the extent of seats reserved for them. The entrance test will be objective type for 200 marks, with 100 marks from specialization in horticulture and 40 marks from compulsory Biochemistry and statistics couses and another 60 marks from general horticulture.
