Mechatronics Engineering
The word mechatronics is a combination of mechanics and
electronics. The course is a combination of mechanical engineering, electrical
engineering, control engineering, computer engineering and system design
engineering. Some of the examples of products desingned using mechatronics
engineering are fax machines, disk drives washing machines, computers, etc.
Mechatronics engineers plan, design and create machinery that has electronics
and computer etc. Mechatronics engineers plan, design and create machinery that
has electronics and computer central system. In addition, mechatronics
engineering involves the use of micro-electro-mechanical system(MEMS), neural
prosthecis, and many more cutting edge technologies.
Some of the colleges that offer mechatronics at the BTech and MTech Levels are
GH Patel College of Engineering and Technology (Graduate in Mechatronics)
Vellore Institute of Technology (MTech Mechatronics)
Indo-Swiss Training Centre, Chandigarh(4years Advanced Diploma in Mechatronics)
Anna University (ME Mechatronics)
Energy Engineering
Energy Engineering is an interdisciplinary programme that involves skills from
the diverse fields of mining, chemical, civil and mechanical engineering. It
aims at reducing energy consumption by designing more efficient systems and
reducing the energy consumed by current systems. There are very few colleges
that offer undergraduate courses in energy engineering, but many institutes
offer specialization in this field.
Some of the institutes that offer energy engineering courses are
IIT Bombay
National Institute of Technology
University of Petroleum and energy studies
Vellore Institute of Technology
Environmental Engineering
With people starting to become more and more aware of the effects of their
lifestyle on the environment, environmental engineering is considered a
promising branch of engineering. Environmental Engineers aims at controlling
pollution and its effects. Several
Institutes are offering undergraduate program in Environmental Engineering.
Selection is based on IIT JEE and other competitive examinations. The four year
bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering includes study of water supply
systems, waste water disposal, storm water management, air quality control,
solid waste management and hazardous waste management. Which increasing focus
on eco friendly products and technologies, the demand for Environmental
Engineers is expected to grow in near future. Students can opt for
specialization and research in this field.
