Ratan Tata fellowship The fellowship will be for a period of up to eight months, preferably starting October 1, 2008, and will be based at the Asia Research Centre at the LSE. The fellow will receive a monthly subsistence allowance of up to £1,500 a month and will be provided with office space and access to research facilities at the school. Russian Language Study

IIM Admission process

Though CAT is conducted jointly by all six IIMs, each IIM admits students independently and has its own admission process, independent of other IIMs. CAT is one of several inputs used by IIMs to judge the suitability of the candidate — first for group discussion and/ or interview and then final selection. CAT score is primarily the basis of short-listing candidates for second round of admission process which is based on GDs and personal interviews. It may also be used for final ranking. The IIM to which the candidate has applied evaluates her in each of a set of different areas of achievement, including CAT performance. The basis of ranking and finally selecting successful candidates is based on attributes which may include performance of CAT, GD/PI, academic, co-curricular/ extracurricular achievements and work experience. The weightage given to each may vary across IIMs. Reservation: Scheduled Caste — 15%; Scheduled Tribe — 7.5%; Persons with Disability (PWD) — 3%

Criminology

Criminology deals with the scientific study of crime and criminologists work with forensic scientists scouting for evidence. Correctional administration is a part of criminology as is forensic testing. Professionals in the field are involved in law enforcement correctional administration or counselling. Biotechnology study in India

The basic groundwork preparation for entry into biotechnology would be the science stream at the plus two level. Since you have finished PUC in commerce you are not eligible to take up a BSc in biotechnology. Of course, Manipal Sikkim University and IGNOU offer a BSc in Biotechnology & Life Science respectively through correspondence mode, but the eligibility qualification is science combination at the plus two level. Even if you study either biotech or life sciences and do BSc via correspondence, you will have to study a PG course to get into the field of biotech. Another option open for you is to take up specialisation in nursing and do post-diploma courses in areas such as Medical Surgical Nursing in OT, nursing, Cardiothoracic/Vascular, Neuro-medical and Neurosurgical, Cancer (Oncology), Nephrology and Urology, Paediatric, Psychiatric, Geriatic, Obstetrical and Gynaecological, Rehabilitation Techniques etc.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR ISLAMIC STUDIES

The Imam Bukhari and Imam Tirmizi visiting scholarships are intended to encourage interaction among academics from various traditions of learning.The Imam Bukhari and Imam Tirmizi scholars will be expected to devote their time to research and writing and to participate in the centre's academic activities. Appleby College, Canada, is set to launch its e-learning programme in India. The Appleby College, based in Oakville, Ontario, Canada,recently visited India for a strategic partnership with Indian schools to launch its e-learning programme. The fee for the diploma will cost around one-fourth of the total amount being charged by the Appleby College in Canada.
